Dick Blick (https://www.dickblick.com), a U.S. art supply retailer, acquired MacPherson Art Supply (the largest U.S. art supply wholesaler) in May 2025 in this press release. This deal included the physical inventory of MacPherson’s and their exclusive brands (Art Alternatives, Fredrix, and Hello, Artist!).
What does this mean for artists like you and me? Super-duper discounted art supplies!
In 2025 where everything is more expensive and import tariffs have made shopping from Europe unfeasible, this is an actual sale that I want to spread the word about far and wide.
This sale has been in effect since October 2025 so I’m a little late to the party. As of December 12th 2025, the items available included in the liquidation sale of MacPherson are posted here:
All categories of art supplies are included in the sale! From canvas and markers to easels and frames are included. The sale will end when Blick determines that they no longer have an excess of inventory.
Some tips to shop the sale:
- No additional discounts can be applied
- Sale is online only! Physical Blick stores will not price match to the online pricing.
- Free U.S. shipping applies to orders $79+ USD
- Liquidation sales may apply to a limited range of colors within a product line.
- To find if your favorite art supplies are included in the sale, first lookup the product line. In the Shop Product tabs, choose the Filter “Other Ways to Shop” and select “Overstock” to find these items. This is helpful when you have pastel brands like Sennelier with 500+ colors! If the sale does not apply to any of the items, the Overstock option will not be available.
- The main liquidation sale is organized by art supply category and then by brand or subcategory. Example “Drawing and Illustration Liquidation”>”Pens Liquidation”>”Copic Pens Liquidation”
